Handing Over Teams License to Another Company
When projects are completed and handed over to new teams or clients, transferring all associated infrastructure is typically part of the process. However, migrating licenses, particularly for tools like DCM, can present unique challenges. These challenges often arise when the original team cannot transfer their DCM license unless the receiving team owns or is willing to purchase the license.
To address these challenges, it's important to understand the handover process comprehensively, including what needs to be transferred and why. Here are four possible solutions:
1. Talk to Us
To understand the challenge that you encounter, we should know the context better to give you appropriate advice. Therefore, we strongly recommend you contact our support team via email or on Discord and let's have a chat to resolve your issue. We are always happy to help and cooperate.
2. Simplify DCM Removal
If you own the DCM license, consider demonstrating how easy it is to remove DCM from the project before handing it over. This step ensures that the new team doesn’t face any unnecessary complexities related to the tool’s integration. If you need assistance with this process, our support team is ready to guide you through each step.
3. Encourage Client-Owned Licenses
If your client or the new team can own the DCM license, there’s no need to transfer it from your end. Explain to them that owning the license could be beneficial for standardizing and synchronizing code styles across their projects. This approach works especially well if they have a development team. Should you need help explaining these benefits or facilitating the license transfer, reach out to us for support.
4. DCM Transition Licenses
You can consider offering a temporary “transition” license that expires after a set period (e.g., one month). This gives the new team time to adjust and manage the transition smoothly. While this may not be ideal for every situation, it can be a useful stopgap measure. Our team can assist in setting up these transition licenses and ensuring a smooth handover process.
